Student Agency Showcase

Trends in education are moving towards student agency in teaching and learning. To empower students to exercise their agency, teaching must move from theory-dense pedagogy to project-based learning and facilitation. The International STEM Conference PNG is grounded in design principles that prioritise student agency, recognising learners as active participants in their own educational journey. Our approach advocates learning and teaching pedagogical practices that develop STEM educator confidence to empower students to take ownership of their learning and decision-making. The conference models and explores strategies that place students at the centre of STEM education, encouraging inquiry, critical thinking, collaboration, creative thinking innovation, and real-world problem-solving as essential components of student agency.
